Deeply ingrained in all aspects of life, from communication to mobile apps to online accounting, The Cloud promises smooth scaling and economic efficiency: seamlessness. As public life is increasingly managed by digital infrastructures and the expansion and the financialization of Big Tech, our dependency on cloud technologies seems intractable. But what are the possibilities of resistance to these infrastructures? How might we imagine and build alternatives? In this panel, Cristina Cochior, Maria Dada, Miriyam Aouragh, and Femke Snelting propose trans*feminist counter-cloud practices that reclaims the possibilities for organising collective life across scales, refusing the depletion from infinite upscaling. Calling for cloud resistance, they invoke systemic, sustainable, queer, techno-political change.
