Làmp Faal Kala, born Ngoty Fall, is a Senegalese writer, percussionist, and multilingual artist whose work bridges the ancient art of drum language with contemporary literary expression. With a Master's degree in English Language, Letters, and Civilisations with a specialization in African Literature and Civilization from Gaston Berger University in Senegal, he has dedicated his creative practice to elevating Wolof and other African languages as vehicles for modern literary innovation. For fifteen years, he has been teaching English at High School while serving since as an adjunct Wolof instructor at the Department of African Languages and Cultures (LCA/CRAC) at Gaston Berger University.

As a writer, Làmp Faal Kala has pioneered a unique artistic approach that transposes the rhythmic codes of traditional drum language into written poetry and prose. His debut work, the poetry collection Xelum Xalam (Ejo editions, 2020), draws directly from his expertise as a percussionist, transforming the sonic textures and communicative patterns of drumming into a distinctive poetic voice. His novel Tànn-béer (Ejo editions, 2022) explores the tensions and continuities between traditional cultural practices and modern Senegalese society, interrogating how ancient wisdom and contemporary life intersect.

Beyond his original works in Wolof, Làmp Faal Kala is an accomplished translator whose multilingual capabilities have enabled him to make significant contributions to cross-cultural literary exchange. His translation work includes Following The Fish, a special issue of Quaderns that he rendered into Wolof for the Catalonia in Venice event in 2020. He also co-authored Avoir encore 20 ans (2023) for the 20th anniversary of MEETING, published in Saint-Nazaire, France, demonstrating his engagement with international literary communities.
