Special Audience Screening: Simon Ripoll-Hurier screens The Signal Line at its final stage of completion, initiating a conversation around the film before its official premiere later this year.

In the mid 1970’s, the CIA began to look for new methods of collecting intelligence that would provide untraceable access to target locations deep within the Soviet state. To enable the transferral of images from places far away, a secret programme on psychic vision and extrasensory perception was launched. The initiative was developed at the same time, and from within the same Silicon Valley buildings, as the early internet.

The Signal Line is a sci-fi documentary that operates across scales, on the edge between divination and espionage, New Age and new tech, a film about the possibility of perceiving the invisible, of seeing through walls, bodies, time and space, and a film about the possibility of sharing these visions.

Simon Ripoll-Hurier tracks down listening situations coming from visual arts and developing a practice between cinema and radio.
