"text": "For the **Film Night** French filmmaker Simon Ripoll-Hurier screens his new feature film *The Signal Line* at its final stage of completion alongside an excerpt of Solveig Qu Suess’ documentary narrative of a mother-daughter relationship contested between Switzerland and China. \n\nThe final day of the festival (Sun, 5 February) presents three **screenings**:\n\nBasma Alsharif, Hannah Jayanti and Alexander Porter, Alaa Mansour, and Anna Engelhardt and Mark Cinkevich explore how the theatre and spectacle of mapmaking has mediated representations of space, reflecting on their use as instruments of colonialism and military control. \n\nAs algorithms optimise and scale across networks and platforms, they determine the rules, parameters, and possibilities for those entangled in them.
